 What's up everyone this week i interview one of the guys of the og Stapled shut.. I remember seeing Stapled shut with Final Draft and Hoy Pinoy, really cool show. Pretty good. STARTED IN 93. 
The line up  was Frank Espinoza, Robert Gutierrez, Mark Diaz, Martin Alvarado and  myself. 
When was it that you guys add the Dj  Ace and the 2 rappers... 
The 2 Rappers and  Ace came in 2011
How did Ace and the rappers get in the band??? Yeah Frank had started a rap project and Martin lion in either drums and other percussions ace was already working with Frank at that time . Martin asked to coming in with the as. and do some sampling tracks for us
what the line up for s.s. now?
The line up right now Martin, Brian and myself for S.S.
don't get me wrong its different in a good way. Mixing that hip hop and grindcore people trip.

how did you guys get the name Stapled Shut?? 
Frank came up with name. I think a month before our first show came up with the name.
cool what influences do you guys have for the band?? 
Extreme Noise Terror, Heresy, Napalm Death and  early Disrupt, but all Disrupt is sick, Oh yeah early Napalm

What's up everyone this weekend...The way I heard bout that this band was from One Fest  I saw a lot of killer bands. One of them was Invertebrate they hail from the Oakland. I saw them as a 4 piece from what I remember at the moment there a killer 2 piece to wreck with.. Here is the interview with Invertebrate hope you guys enjoy...

 State your name and what band do you play for?? Name is Jay, I play drums in Invertebrate.

how did you get into punk??Well I wasn’t really ever a punk guy to be honest. I was based mainly in death metal, and grindcore. Donovan, my guitar player, actually introduced me to a lot of the powerviolence I listen to today.

so How did Invertebrate start as a band??

Back in 2012 I was getting out of a death metal band I was in for about 5 years called Ominous Ruin, and Donovan had just left a long term band of his called Buried At Birth. I posted a craigslist add looking up play in a grindcore band, because I was pretty sick of the death metal scene at the time, and we jammed a few times and decided to start writing together. And now here we are 8 years later.

and the original line up  was a 3 piece from what I remember you guys at One fest???

Originally we rocked as a two piece. We put out our first record “Precambrian” and a two piece, and played a few locals shows for about 2 years. Then we ended up with a bass player Rob, who was with us for about 5 years.We had a brief stint with a vocalist, and Vince from Human Obliteration on bass for a year. Now you you guys are a 2 piece??? How did you get the  name Invertebrate? Yes we have been a 2 piece for a bit. 

Oh damn, I’m not really sure which one of us picked it. I think it was Donovan. We didn’t want to go the route of a traditional pv band name, and most of our lyrics are very misanthropic, so the whole concept of the band is about how humans can be so spineless and benign. really cool... 

Picking a band name that someone doesn’t already have is very difficult. Although now, funny story: a couple years ago a band in Australia formed, I believe they’re like a metal core band or something, and they also share the name Invertebrate. One of the members actually asked me to change our name because our Spotify was showing up for their fans. I simply replied with “No.”

lol we have the name Culpa from the Despise you titled Culpa Mia .. plus I'm a fan of DxY..

What was one of the coolest shows you guys have played?? 

I have to say 2: years ago we played a show in San Francisco in the dogpatch. It was a mixed bill with around 10 bands and it was a chopper building competition. So while we were playing, there were bikers wheel to wheel doing burnouts, completely filling the venue with smoke. There was around 300 people there. It was fucking awesome. And the second one was on our last tour, with friends and split mates Mellow Harsher in Madison, WI. It was at a cool little bar on a Sunday, it was packed and the venue fed and and gave us free beers all night. It was awesome to be so welcomed by fans and friends, the hospitality was on point. Overall great time.

Are you guys releasing anything???

We just release “Culture Rot” on New Year’s Day this year. So right now Donovan and I are just back into the writing process.

Yo what's up this is another cool interview I been trying to work on for a while I been postpending it but hey its been in the works I  interview Heric..  He tells me the story of Kontraattaque and the bands he's been in...He's an og in my books I remember meeting him when I went to go see Unbroken reunion with the homie Fernando.. I remember I wanted to go to Kontraattaque reunion when they play with Liberate... but shit happens and I couldn't go but R.I.P to Dirk  Here you go the interview with Heric from Kontraattaque enjoy.. State your name what band did you play for??  My name Heric Dueñas and I’ve played in a few small bands since around the early 90s. The first band I ever joined was a straight edge band from Boyle Heights called INTERLOCKED back in 1991. We played quite a few shows locally but I never got the chance to record anything with them. That lasted for about 2 years and then I left the band.  Sometime between 1996-1997, I started jamming with Ignacio and Lalo and a friend of theirs in a project band they had started for fun. This was a punk band that Ignacio and Lalo wanted to do as a side project for their current band TEZACRIFICO.  what influences Kontraattaque and how did Kontraattaque start?? At some point, there was a falling out with their friend, who played guitar and so I asked my good friend Dirk (R.I.P.) to come and play guitar for us. I believe we maybe had 2 practices and Dirk and I started to write songs for the band which didn’t gel well with the style of songs Ignacio had written. Keep in mind that Ignacio was a way more talented musician then we were haha! Also, Lalo, Dirk and I wanted to change the band’s direction to sound more like old school UK mid 80s grind like Napalm Death’s “Scum” lp mixed with Extreme Noise Terror and Doom. We thought it would be awesome to incorporate that sound and mix it with the ideals of bands like MASSACRE 68, HUASIPUNGO, CRUDOS and hardcore bands like INFEST and CAPITALIST CASUALTIES. Once we talked about that sound, we decided to name the band KONTRAATTAQUE That was right around the Summer of ‘97 After KONTRAATTAQUE, I played in HARTO which was a short lived band that Martin (Crudos) sang on. Danny (Hit Me Back) played drums on and Diego (Disidencia, Pirexia and Rogue State) played guitar on. We recorded a demo tape, and sold about 100 copies of that. We did a few other songs which were never released due to a bad mix After HARTO, I played in a few other project bands: W.A.R.S., DIMLUCK, FIGHT WITH NO FEAR, NO DEFEAT and DÍA FINAL. These were all project bands and only recorded demos with.  How long was Kontraattaque active??? KONTRAATTAQUE was pretty much the most active band I was in. We were together from 1997-2002 We did 3 more benefit shows after we broke up between 2007-2017 How did you guys get the name Kontraattaque The name KONTRAATTAQUE came about because of the things that were happening at the time in the mid to late 90s with the anti-immigrant agenda that was sparked all over the U.S. with republican governors like Pete Wilson and propositions like 187 The name was bold and to the point. Yes I'm talking bout the infamous Godstomper, started playing in the 90's and the homies from Sordo have a little influence of there. I talk to Paul bout there history somewhat bout the band... State your name and what band do you play for??  Paul  Godstomper how long has Godstomper been a band??  Too long for a Pv band lol very cool whos in the band you and your brother??  Ya it's just me and Danny on drums how did you get into punk??  Through Danny actually College radio Being a outsider sweet  how did you guys get the name Godstomper???  One day I saw a picture of brutal truth and Kevin sharp wore a neds atomic dustbin shirt for God Fodder and I was listening to Agnostic front and was eating a Gobstopper so before Godstomper you were in Barfos how did that happen??  Actually it was Godstomper before Barfos But when we put gs to sleep We did Barfos as a joke To crash local shows and then you did the band with one of the dudes from Dosxamigos Ya James Miranda after some year later how did that one happen?   We did xMAD AS HELLx Danny was busy with his life and Dos Amigos broke up when Nick moved to NY So me and James decided to do  side project Just to have fun you guys were just a band for a bit??? Like a few weeks Did one show Did a 3 song demo And it stopped. Godstomper did a split  In disgust that split stood out cuz it was one of the sickest split  to this day I listened to it time to time how did that split verse happen.. What's up everyone how are you guys doing... any how i got the chance to interview a cool dude from some pretty cool bands from Arizona. this week I interview one of the dudes from Gimp/GlassxBite.. if you haven't check them out you should really awesome bands from Arizona. Here it is the interview with Joey from Gimp/GlassxBite. so state your name and what bands do you play in?? Hello, my name is Joey. And I’ve played in Gimp, and GlassxBite. how long was Gimp and GlassxBite a band?? Gimp played collectively for about 3 years, and called it quits in Winter of 2018. GlassxBite on the other end, came up about a year or so later and lasted a few months, from early September 2019 until June 2020. who in those bands how did the band start?? I met Payson and Raul at a show around 2015. They had a had a PV band that they were looking for a bassist for, and they asked if I can jam with them. One thing lead to another, and we jammed like a week later, and it all kinda just worked out. That band didn’t last too long, and after a lineup change, we made the choice to change the band name to Gimp, and started playing grindviolence. After Gimp split, I really wanted to play Powerviolence again, so I kept at writing songs and riffs, recording anything I thought would sound good and unique to hear. I wont call too much attention to GlassxBite and its previous drummer, but I met up with them at a show with their band sometime around Summer of 2019, and we jammed for a few practices, and recorded Demo ‘19 in one night! how did you get into punk? I got into punk when I was 10 or so. I had a friend who was big on collecting CD’s at the time, and I went over to his house, and found the discography of The Ramones, and I thought, “Those guys look weird! I wanna hear what they play.” We jammed them, and some Black Flag, and I was pretty much hooked from then on! how did you guys get that name? Gimp’s name came up as a name change from our first band, and it was more or less of wanting to have a simpler name, and to also reference Pulp Fiction. GlassxBite’ s name kinda came from an odd influence. I overheard someone who was remembering a time where they huffed gasoline, and they stated that they felt their bones were made of glass, and didn't want to bite down on anything due to the feeling. I just kinda kept that conversation in my head, and thought “That’d be a cool band name.” Thankfully, I’ve seen that dude again recently, and he’s pretty much cleaned up since the time I heard him. any cool show you would say are your favorite or favorites?? I’ll tell you, Gimp played some pretty cool shows. We did a small Texas tour with Depraved for 3 days, so that was cool! We played a benefit gig for the Dakota Pipeline efforts, and we played with Magnum Force for their last show. We also played with Capitalist Casualties when they came down and played Phoenix. What was cool about that show, is we played on an actual Halfpipe someone made in their backyard. Scum Human came down to Phoenix with Star Sete Sept, and thats where I became friends with Tommy. Gimp played with World Peace twice when they toured, and it was a pleasure both times. We also played with Stapled Shut and Suppression, and those shows also popped off! I can go on and on with cool shows we played, but those were the first shows that came to mind, haha. GlassxBite didn't really play a lot of shows all too much. We did however do our tape release alongside Corrupt Vision in a tiny ass Livingroom, so that was cool! Any releases coming out soon? GlassxBite has some material on the back burner. At this time though, I am the only band member in it, and drummers are a bit scarce in our scene. It might remain as a solo venture, but who knows? Anything is possible. what were or are the influences for both bands? Crossed Out, Despise You, Excruciating Terror, Infest, Extortion, In Disgust Any shout out you want to give? I want to shout out Gus V. from Practiced Hatred Records, as well as his band Depraved. Those dudes made some of my best nights possible for being so chill and supportive for a young band like Gimp to thrive in the early days. Payson, Elad, and Juan for pulling up to GlassxBites first few shows. Shout outs to any of the promoters that pulled through and helped Gimp on that big Summer tour we did in 2018. What's up everyone this week I interview an og powerviolence band that's been around for a while I'm talking bout Hoy Pinoy. an all Filipino powerviolence band. when I got into powerviolence I discovered this band from there discography and there killer splits. I also seen them a handful of times.they never disappoint. Here is the interview with Hoy Pinoy, enjoy... What is your name and what band do you play in? My name is Jameson but everyone calls me Jamo. I play guitar and do vocals in Hoy Pinoy. I also have a upcoming new doom/sludge band called Deep Tomb with members from Cave State, Violencia and Bruce Campbell. How did you get into punk? I got into punk in the 7th grade through friends and video games like Tony Hawk Pro Skater. I started off listening to skate punk, which led to street punk and old hardcore, then fell in love with powerviolence/fastcore/grindcore. Who’s in Hoy Pinoy, how did Hoy Pinoy get started? How did you guys come up with the band name? Other members of Hoy Pinoy are the Castro brothers Matt(bassist) and Jon(drums). We’ve known each other since the 7th grade. In the 9th grade we started a Misfits cover band called The Goonies. We played backyard shows almost every weekend for a couple years. Later on, we decided to start a powerviolence band. Matt came up with the name Hoy Pinoy(think it was a parody name to Oi Polloi) and started making fast music about all the random shit we love and hate. What are your guys influences? Our main influences were Spazz, Charles Bronson, Fuck on the Beach, Capitalist Casualties,! Crossed Out, Infest, No Comment, Lack Of Interest, and Man is the bastard. Do you guys have any upcoming releases? Hoy Pinoy has been on hiatus for a while, we’ve only played a handful shows for the past several years.  hey how is everyone??? this interview has been in the work for sometime but do to family and work I been postponing  it. Anyways the nardcore scene been known with a lot of awesome bands. with the city an  Agriculture and beaches near the city. I interview the guys for Sordo. here is it the interview of Sordo enjoy.

how are you guys doing??? 

Doing good Marco just super busy as always. 

state your name and what band are you in?? 

My name is Eddie and I play in Metallica.

how did you guys get into punk??? 

Aw man idk lol I remember getting really into punk around high-school. I listened to a lot of Misfits and Circle Jerks then so I guess it was then.

how did Sordo get started??? 

Sordo had a number of name changes but it was originally started as Blue Cheese and it was just me and my brothers messing around. The band never took off then cause we didn't have a live drummer. Things started to solidify once we had a full time drummer.

how was the change from guitar to bass??? 

It was an easy transition. At the time when we made the change I was listening to a lot of different drum and bass bands. There weren't any drum and bass only bands in Oxnard at the time or ever to my knowledge so we decided to go that route when playing as a way to make ourselves stand out from other local bands.

How did you guys get the name Sordo??? 

Pure laziness lol. Names for bands and songs are the hardest parts to come up with. Names are tricky because you want something unique but also something that fits and describes the band fairly well. There was this old Myspace ska band from Mexico i think called "Sordos" as well so when we were looking for names we just thought we'd drop the S in Sordo(S) and keep as Sordo. We figured it was a total ripoff since they played ska and we played noise. It fit more because we played stupid loud in our earlier shows.

what was the line up from the beginning??? 

First OG lineup was myself and bass. Gerry on Vox and Mike on drums.

what's was the line up now???? 

The line up has stayed the same with the exception of drummers. 

Our current drummer is Anthony. He plays in Shitbrains.

 

what's the coolest show you guys played???? 
Idk man they've all been pretty cool honestly haha its always awesome to play in front of a crowd big

what are your guys influences???? 

There's way to many to list tbh. Influences come from a lot of different places whether its music or a movie with some dialog that would make for a cool sample. 

Any releases do you guys have???? 

Yeah we have a few actually. We just released a split lathe with PCP Parade. It's sold out on our end but the PCP guys may have some copies. We have a split with Powerchuck that was released with a ton of great labels. We just did a repress of the En El Bosque rehearsal tape as well.

How did you guys get in the Nardcore 4 Life Comp???? 

They just asked if we wanted to submit a song lol but yeah i feel very happy to have Sordo included in
