Impulse & Sleepwalk #4

The story behind this interview was the same time I met Raineir of Stopping Power I met Nick G. oF Impulse. Raineir wanted me to interview Nick cause Impulse is one of the well know band out of San Diego so is Sleep Walk. so here it is Albert & Nick of Sleep Walk & Impulse interview.

what are your guys name and what do you guys do in impulse and sleep walk????

A/N-Alberto Aguilar SW vocals, impulse guitar; Alex Alvaro SW & impulse drummer; mason SW&impulse bass player; Adam Bixel SW Guitar; Nick Gonzalez impulse vocals

how did impulse and sleep walk start???

A/N-In the summer of 2007 alberto, alex and nick formed impulse. We wanted a band like infest so in two weeks of being a band we made a 4 song demo including an infest cover (sick of talk).
Sleep Walk started as a side project and then turned into a full on band. The band was born in the winter of 2009 in Alex’s garage. We’ve been playing shows since.

and get there name????

A/N-We wanted to copy infest so we thought impulse would work .
Sleep Walk is the title of an old song.

i understand the different style of power violence/hardcore like bands of crutch, crossed out,Find Him and Kill Him what is the difference between north county and chula vista??????

N-There’s really not much of a difference, everyone rocks together.

what bands are you influences with both bands by other than infest?????

A/N-Black Flag and everything else from the 80’s.

really coo speaking of infest that is really coo that impulse playing with infest and would you guys say that is your guys best show???

A/N-Yeah this is the show we always dreamed of. We were stoked to hear that infest told that guy who booked the show, to only book local bands, so we feel real lucky to be playing with the godfathers of the power violence genre.

I remember you guys came to oxnard a while back and play a house show with El Mariachi how did that happened????

A/N-Our friend who does nearly all the impulse art, joseph sanchez, contacted someone from Oxnard. We became good friends with el mariachi and matt urango, whos definitely hooked up impulse and sleep walk with some badass shows in Oxnard.

really coo what should we expect for sleep walk & Impulse????
A/N-Great fucking things, we’re taking over.

thanks again you guys for your time..

Richard Ramos :Rudio and None Of Your Fucken Busines (N.O.Y.F.B) #3

I did an interview Richard Ramos from Rudio and None Of Your Fucken Business.. it was a good interview even tho he lives out of state and i live in Cali But here it is... M is going to be me and R is going to be Richard  M-Richard whats your name and what bands were you in and what did you do in the bands?

R-my name is Richard. I played in Ruido for 3 years and did 2nd vocals. I played basin Progeria from the time I started it til only 4 1/2 years, and I did vocals and bass for None of Your Fucking Business from February 8th,1997 to late 2005.

M-Thats cool. Richard how did you get in rudio how was the story behind that??????

R- Gen the original singer was looking for a 2nd vocalist. We have already been friends for a bit before that. He was also looking for a guitar player at the same time and having known Mike Thrashead for a while we both kinda went in at the same time.

M-What bout N.O.Y.F.B.??????

R-NOYFB was a dream band for me. I was friends with Katz and Thrashead and literally out of the blue I asked those guys if they want to start a band. We got together at Green Hell Records and talked about this. This was late December 1996.

M-Richard what would you say was your best show you have been in N.O.Y.F.B. & Rudio???

R-For NOYFB my favorite show would be when we played the Unholy Thrash Night which was a one day Fest at the Smell. I forgot th year. We played with Municipal Waste,Maggot Colony, and about 12 others. With Ruido we played the Reekodo Fest in Northern California with Dystopia,Exhumed,Lana Dagales, and others.I have fliers for both shows. You'll get copies soon.
  • M-Koo Richard would you say Rudio was a band that sound like Los Crudos or different????Do you feel like you guys made a different in the punk scene by the lyrics you guys did as one of the hispanic bands that was know???R-It depends. When they started they're were power violence. Check out their ep on Deep Six or their split with Tezacrifico. When I joined I think we changed for the better. We played a mixture of grind, thrash, old school traditional hardcore. I really enjoyed what we did a lot.M-I remember when a friend of mine told me that rudio was power violence and then change to a hardcore punk soundRichard Progeria what type of style was that band????R-Yeah,I liked it a lot more. As for your other question, maybe. I really don't know. I have had people come up to me at shows and talk to us about the band. I don't think we were important to be honest. oh,Progeria. Well, this was a straight forward grindcore band with the intent of playing fast and short songs. kinda like Larm meets Fear Of God.M-koo Richard can you tell me what project are you doing at the moment???
    • R-I am not doing a project right now. I had an idea to do a noisy crust band and I wanted to call it STNS. Short for Stations. The other guys were not enthusiastic about the idea. I might do it as a solo project or something. I do want to start another grindcore band with this guy Chewy on drums. No guitar. Just bass and drums. And I'll do vocals. He plays drums for The Kruds and Ill Informed, both bands from San Antonio.Old school grind. Shit I love like Rot,Insect Warfare, early Agathocles,Patareni,Fear of God,and early Cripple Bastards.M-Sounds awesome Richard and thanks for your timeR-Anytime man. Thanks for your interest.

    Corrupt Bastards #2

I get the chance to interview one of the bands hailing from Houston,Tx. That is upcoming in the power violence/grindcore scene. They have their  1st demo/split on DIY Noise  with Tj's every own Califa puta and 2nd split with   Water Torture.  I chat with Jason from Corrupt Bastards. Jason=cxb and I will be M. Hope you guys like it enjoy!

M-whats your name??? what band do you play in and what do you do?

Cxb-My name is Jason Pekar I play bass/vocals in corrupt bastards

M-koo Jason how did you guys get the name Corrupt Bastards???

Cxb-well we really didn't think about it too much honestly the first few songs we wrote were all about police abusing their power which is a real issue here in Houston and thats basically where the name came from

M-Wow i feel you jason casuse we had problems with police over here in Oxnard.

Cxb-you man unfortunately you have to be careful these days theyll beat the shit out of you

M-You guys been a drum and bass band has anyone tried to compare you guys to band like Godstomper,Dosxamigos,Sordo,Bastard Noise....Etc?

Cxb-yeah people will compare almost every drum and bass band to godstomper, the album heavy metal vomit party particularly has so many good grooves in it that, and drum and bass bands are often known for the good grooves due to the fat low tones

M-koo Jason I heard the split tape with Calafia Puta (TJ) how did you guys set up to do that demo/split???

Cxb-Well one of my good friends from Houston is originally from tijuana and he had always told me about calafia puta because he was friends with the guys, so through him I became friends with Isirdo, the guitarist for calafia puta and whenever corrupt bastards started taking shape it was just at the right time where they had songs recorded already so it just worked out perfectly

M-Thats really coo I saw you guys were goin to do a 6 way split with Sordo,SKUFF,S.A.F.G.,Water Torture  do you know when that will ever happened????
Cxb-yeah man funny from this 6 way split is how the corrupt bastards/water torture split came about. The 6 way split was supposed to be finished and out in time for the water torture tour they just came back on but as the deadline for their tour approached the only bands that had stuff recorded was us and water torture so for their tour matt, the bassist for wt asked if we just wanted to do a split then just record more songs for the 6 way so thats what we agreed on and hopefully the actual 6 way split will come out sometime as of now I have no clue

M-Jason before i let you go any plans for cb in the future???

Cxb-yes most defiantly, as for now we are writing and working on releasing a s/t 7 inch which we hope to have finished and out before summer next year and hopefully more splits with some rad bands and maybe even west coast dates?!?!

M-very very coo jason well thanks  for your time.

    Cxb- yeah man thanks!

Raineir G. Pesebre :Stopping Power/Haruka/ Kids Say The Darnest Things #1

The story behind this interview was that my parents moved to Chula Vista and i visit offered. I tried to network with people out there other than i knew Matt and Martin from North County. So I met up with Raineir and I thought it would be a good idea to interview him and Charles from Dead Weight. I would put it up but it was too short so i did this one.

T-Whats ur name, what band do u play for what do u do in the band????

R-My name is Raineir, and I mainly play in Tantive-IV, Stopping Power, Linkletter, Haruka, and a few other smaller projects. I sing in Tantive-IV, I play drums in Stopping Power and Haruka, and I sing and play guitar in Linkletter. Bertie from Impulse, our friend Keghan, and I finished a 4-song demo under the name "HAPPY DAZE," and I record songs with a studio project called "yujin13." It's a lot..ahahahah
T-How was it you guys got a split with Dammit honey thats from japan... While you guys are in Chula Vista,CA USA???

R- Stopping Power played a show at Vic's Warehouse in Murrietta, CA with Joyful Sounds and Dammit Honey. Connor from Joyful Sounds met Rie and Eriko from Dammit Honey in Japan while he was on vacation and helped them set up a little tour. Rie and Eriko liked our bands so much that they asked if we wanted to come to Japan with them to hang out. We thought they were joking at first, but they were serious. They wanted to do a split with us too, so we recorded some songs and even did a cover of one of their songs. With our guitarist Jared's help, we were able to get some cheap plane tickets, and we found ourselves playing in Japan for two weeks. It was the bees

T-What type of style is each of your bands???
R-Tantive-IV is the band I've been in the longest. We really developed our style, but at this point it's a sort of skate-melodic hardcore punk sound really influenced by Dag Nasty and Inside Out. Stopping Power has a different sound, more leaning towards the hardcore side with faster tempos and weirdo metal riffs. It gets pretty scientific with Stopping Power and we put more thought into the songs than with Haruka, which is a more 90s influenced fastcore/screamo band. We don't take much time writing Haruka songs, and that's the good thing about it because it's one of those bands where we can just get together and jam out the songs. Linkletter used to be called "Kids Say the Darndest Things" and we play melodic punk with alternative indie stylings. Our new bassist Rick described us as a "punk version of Weezer."

T-How did you get The name Stopping Power???
R-The story of Stopping Power's name is strange. Before I was in the band, Ortega, Naystatt, Kevin, and Isaiah used to be in this joke ska band called Asscobra. They got me on drums, and wanted to take it a bit more seriously, so the name was changed to Hurtin' Crue, and then Mark Walll Berg, and finally Stopping Power, which was named after that video game Call of Duty 4. We stuck with the name ever since 2008.

T-What would u say was ur best show???
R-our best shows are played when no one is there to see them, hahaha honestly. But one of our best shows as Stopping Power was this basement show in this place called Maebashi in Japan. They were breaking shit and pouring beer on us. The video is on youtube, hahaha. With Tantive-IV, our best show was at King's Music in Lemon Grove with Downpresser and Deadlined, and a few others. People went off in this tiny little room and there were stagedives everywhere.
T-what should we expect for the bands your in???
R-Stopping Power is releasing new songs on Mind Disease Records and 10:39 Records. Haruka will have a 14 song full length called "SANPAKU" next year. Tantive-IV is releasing a split with Remain In Vain, and Linkletter will be releasing a split with Black Panther. Be on the lookout for those. In the meantime, listen to it all on 1039records.bandcamp.comRaineir thank you for your time

T-Raineir thank you for your time
