Raineir G. Pesebre :Stopping Power/Haruka/ Kids Say The Darnest Things #1

The story behind this interview was that my parents moved to Chula Vista and i visit offered. I tried to network with people out there other than i knew Matt and Martin from North County. So I met up with Raineir and I thought it would be a good idea to interview him and Charles from Dead Weight. I would put it up but it was too short so i did this one.

T-Whats ur name, what band do u play for what do u do in the band????

R-My name is Raineir, and I mainly play in Tantive-IV, Stopping Power, Linkletter, Haruka, and a few other smaller projects. I sing in Tantive-IV, I play drums in Stopping Power and Haruka, and I sing and play guitar in Linkletter. Bertie from Impulse, our friend Keghan, and I finished a 4-song demo under the name "HAPPY DAZE," and I record songs with a studio project called "yujin13." It's a lot..ahahahah
T-How was it you guys got a split with Dammit honey thats from japan... While you guys are in Chula Vista,CA USA???

R- Stopping Power played a show at Vic's Warehouse in Murrietta, CA with Joyful Sounds and Dammit Honey. Connor from Joyful Sounds met Rie and Eriko from Dammit Honey in Japan while he was on vacation and helped them set up a little tour. Rie and Eriko liked our bands so much that they asked if we wanted to come to Japan with them to hang out. We thought they were joking at first, but they were serious. They wanted to do a split with us too, so we recorded some songs and even did a cover of one of their songs. With our guitarist Jared's help, we were able to get some cheap plane tickets, and we found ourselves playing in Japan for two weeks. It was the bees

T-What type of style is each of your bands???
R-Tantive-IV is the band I've been in the longest. We really developed our style, but at this point it's a sort of skate-melodic hardcore punk sound really influenced by Dag Nasty and Inside Out. Stopping Power has a different sound, more leaning towards the hardcore side with faster tempos and weirdo metal riffs. It gets pretty scientific with Stopping Power and we put more thought into the songs than with Haruka, which is a more 90s influenced fastcore/screamo band. We don't take much time writing Haruka songs, and that's the good thing about it because it's one of those bands where we can just get together and jam out the songs. Linkletter used to be called "Kids Say the Darndest Things" and we play melodic punk with alternative indie stylings. Our new bassist Rick described us as a "punk version of Weezer."

T-How did you get The name Stopping Power???
R-The story of Stopping Power's name is strange. Before I was in the band, Ortega, Naystatt, Kevin, and Isaiah used to be in this joke ska band called Asscobra. They got me on drums, and wanted to take it a bit more seriously, so the name was changed to Hurtin' Crue, and then Mark Walll Berg, and finally Stopping Power, which was named after that video game Call of Duty 4. We stuck with the name ever since 2008.

T-What would u say was ur best show???
R-our best shows are played when no one is there to see them, hahaha honestly. But one of our best shows as Stopping Power was this basement show in this place called Maebashi in Japan. They were breaking shit and pouring beer on us. The video is on youtube, hahaha. With Tantive-IV, our best show was at King's Music in Lemon Grove with Downpresser and Deadlined, and a few others. People went off in this tiny little room and there were stagedives everywhere.
T-what should we expect for the bands your in???
R-Stopping Power is releasing new songs on Mind Disease Records and 10:39 Records. Haruka will have a 14 song full length called "SANPAKU" next year. Tantive-IV is releasing a split with Remain In Vain, and Linkletter will be releasing a split with Black Panther. Be on the lookout for those. In the meantime, listen to it all on 1039records.bandcamp.comRaineir thank you for your time
