Yo what is up everyone this week I interview another legendry dudes from the band Axrxm/Clorox Dream. The band AxRxM came from Fontana,Ca. with there unique style anyone who is a Charles Bronson fan I recommend this band. Here is the interview with the dudes from Clorox Dream/AxRxM.. Also Rip to Sergio there bandmate.....
State your name and what band do you play for??
I’m Omar Romero and I play guitar for the band Clorox dream, but I also played guitar in the band apathetic Ronald McDonald better known as axrxm.
Eddie rn I sing in Clorox Dream and Waternoose but I was the singer of arm. how are you guys doing? Congrats Omar on your baby.. How did you guys get into punk? Eddie: Good We are doing great we just released our first 7inch and a discography till now tape. I've been on a break due to my wife being pregnant and the stupid Covid, but we got Jake from (goolagoon, dicksucker, Landry boy) to join us and the boys have been playing as many shows as they can while I’m away. I really happy about that for sure! I’ll be back in the fold in February. Thanks Marco! Also thanks for the tips and advice have been giving me along the way! Super cool of u to do so my dude! Eddie : When my brother was like 13 years older and he had a lot of tapes, that and a Walkman with radio was my companion, so just browsing I got offspring Americana on tape. I was like 12, it just progressed from there what I could find at virgin mega store at Ontario Mills in Ontario CA back in the day. Then when I was a freshman in HS I met an older group of punks I who were juniors and seniors and I started listening to what they were into: germs, fyp, dead Kennedys etc. I started finding rides to punk venues and shows. how did AxRxM get started?? What was the line up when you guys started? AxRxM started with me and a few friends in high school. We were tried of the same ska and korn and like bands and few punk bands insight at the time. The two original members were me and my homie al. We went through 4 drummers and learned how to play our instruments at the same time. Then we found our first real drummer Brandon. Eddie at the time was playing guitar in another band who i guess we consider our rivalry band nonsense if I remember correctly. He eventually got us our first real gig in Redlands and I can’t remember exactly it happens but one day we asked if he wanted to jump on lead vocals. He came to our practice spot sat and drew our first album cover artwork for Man consumes as the world dies. A demo we recorded on 4 track bomb box. I remember sitting in front of the tv recording sound bits. Lol then I asked my neighbor from across the street Sergio if wanted to be lead guitar. His solo slash pull skills were unmatched to me at the time. Brandon eventually left the band and al moved to drums. Sergio recruited Tom who was playing in a band called no me gusta animal slaughter and he packed his tinny Honda full of punks to go to one show to another on a two for one night. It was common for us to have more then one gig in one night in those days. He jumped In on bass and we kind of started to take off from there. Eddie: Our high school was small and I was a hardcore crust punk, so when axrxm needed a singer I was like a very likely candidate since our school was small. I was one of the only kids of the same age that liked that kind of music. I liked dystopia and The Locust but didn’t really know powerviolence. Those early days were fun, they showing me thrash bands, me showing them crust and grind. This was like 2003 I was 17. how long was line up active?? The line up was active from 03-12 but we did have al leave around 08 and Tom took over on drums and Eddie went to teach abroad In China from 10-12. At that time we played shows only in the summer time. After Sergio passed in 13 we kind of found it hard to keep it going. Tom found it hard to keep it going being that Sergio brought him in and he gave us his blessing to try to keep it going but it just never worked out. That’s why we said fuck it and started up fresh with Clorox and never looked back! It all built up to what we are doing now and I couldn’t be more siked now about music since those early arm days how did you guys get the name Apathetic Ronald McDonald??? We came up with the apathetic Ronald McDonald just sitting at Mc Donald’s after buy a crap load of 75 cent cheese burgers thinking how mad crust punks would be at us. It’s like we were bumping disrupt and five minutes later chowing down on McDonald. It was actually als idea, we liked the name and it stuck.. Eddie: They already had it when I joined but from what I heard later, they were trying to be like Charles Bronson and were sitting at McDonald’s. And they wanted to give the impression that they didn’t care about politics. I know for a time you guys had Moises from Liberate and Jay from Hoy Pinoy how did you guys get them Well we have know those guys since the beginning playing shows with bastardass and hoy Pinoy. We were already great friends so getting them to join in was not to hard and easy choice to make. They are both on The top of there game when it comes to their craft! Moses was with us from 09-12 and we tried to start back up in 16 with jay but it just was not in the cards. jay was all ready drumming for a handful of bands, so he end up not being able to do it. We totally understood it was a joy a pleasure to get to preform with him. We did play a few shows and recorded a live practice session demo. I’m the end we tried one other guy on drums and that just didn’t not work out and we decided it was time to move on. Its understandable. After Jay left how did you guys get Derek on Drums??? After jay left and the other drummer didn’t work out we started on a search one guy we tried out didn’t not work at all just don’t want to get into that one and then then we tried out David from califa puta and violencia but again drummer with a lot of other projects but again we understood! Especially since David is a cool ass dude!! That’s when we diced the next drummer we get this will be a whole new project! That’s when we were introduced to our new brother and partner in crime king Derek! We meet Derek because Eddie was determined to find a great drummer and had asked romen if he knew anybody and sent us Derek's way. I went and met him at the lockout he had in Vernon and we hit it off great, as friends and musicians. We just clicked instantly and after two practices we had 4 songs and within a few months we started playing shows and recording our first release! It’s been an honor and pleasure working with that guy! how did you guys get the name Clorox dream?? Clorox dream was just a collective choice from the mind of Eddie! He came up with name after name until we all decided on one. If it was Clorox dream. I like the name carnage control but Clorox was the one we all decided on. Eddie: I had a list of names and that’s one Omar and Derek both liked, I wanted to call it Porcelain Dog or Picasso Priest. Eddie, how did you get into the drawing?? I just drew my whole life out of anxiety, boredom, escapism. Now it’s easier than a lot of things I want to do. It’s a decent hustle. any releases that are coming??? Right now we have our first 7 inch and a tape release but I know we are shooting to have something new by spring of next year. I know the guys are playing a few shows in between the time I get back. Eddie: do you have any releases or any new projects coming Yes, Jake from Goolagoon is now second guitar in Clorox and when Omar returns from covid scare/ baby leave we’re gonna do our 2nd full length album. Also I sing in the band Waternoose which is working on a demo featuring members of Fissure and Blood Stained Concrete. Do you guys have any shoutout?? Just wanna shout out all the bands and homies we have made during the years we love all u guys! Want to thank Abe for book us and everyone in the LA scene and everyone at the rec center who have been awesome in giving us a chance to show case our new music and to all the Kings and queens that have shown support, also Romen for send Derek our way thanks a bunch! Last and least you Marco for wanting to interview us and give me the opportunity to reminisce on my time playing music! Eddie: Anyone that fucks with us, with my art or even old arm fans thank you. |
